2020 - 2021 Registration Information

 

Returning Students: If your student attended a Hamilton County School at any time during 2019-2020, they are already enrolled. However,  Hamilton County School students are required to update their information each year. Update your student's information here
New Students: If your student is not currently enrolled in a Hamilton County School, you will need to complete a new student registration found here. The link will be active beginning June 1, 2020 for new students enrolling for the 2020-2021 school year.

Apison Elementary Intent for 2020-2021 School Year
The end of the school year is quickly approaching. We hope your child has had a rewarding year at Apison and appreciate your patience and flexibility as we've navigated this unprecedented situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to start planning for the 2020-2021 school year, we would like to find out your intent for the upcoming school year.
The information will be used to form classes for the upcoming school year. (Requests for teachers will not be honored.) Class rosters will be posted in the fall.
You will need to complete a copy of this form for each child in your family.

Student information update replaces registration for returning students this year in Hamilton County Schools

Beginning today, Friday, May 1, a student information update is available online for parents of returning students currently enrolled in Hamilton County Schools.  The district needs information updated for all returning students in kindergarten through eleventh-grade for the 2020-2021 school year.  The information update replaces the prior registration required of returning students. 

Parents or guardians may update information by logging into their PowerSchool Parent Portal at any time before May 22, 2020.  Updating information in PowerSchool is essential for schools to have up-to-date contact details to allow the best possible communication between school and the home.  The vital information also provides schools with current emergency and dismissal contacts for children.  Completing an update will save parents and guardians time because the only information that has changed will need to be entered into the system.

A link is provided to the parent portal on the Hamilton County Schools website at www.hcde.org, as well as a short video walking parents through the information update process on PowerSchool.  Additional assistance is also available by contacting the PowerSchool contact at the local school.  The school contacts will be available to assist with difficulties logging on to the PowerSchool Parent Portal.   

New student registration will open June 1, 2020, for students who will be new to Hamilton County Schools for the fall.




Pre-K registration for the fall

Schools closing due to the COVID-19 virus and limits imposed on group gatherings have altered plans for Pre-K and kindergarten registration for the fall in Hamilton County Schools.  Registration opportunities are now scheduled in May for parents to register their children for the 2020-2021 school year.

Pre-K

Pre-K application day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m. until noon at local schools with Pre-K classes.  The applications for East Brainerd can be dropped off at East Hamilton Middle/High on May 13.   The applications will be handled in a drive-through format that will not require parents to leave their cars.  Families are strongly encouraged to download an application from the district website, stop by the Central Office, or visit the school where they would like to apply and pick-up an application before May 13. East Brainerd Elementary applications can be picked up at Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts (CSLA.)  

We ask you to arrive at the school on May 13 with a complete application and the required documents. Completed paperwork will ensure a quick process and limited waiting in the drive-thru line.  We regret that parents and children will not be able to come in and visit the school during this year's registration. Still, we want to be safe and follow all CDC guidelines, including social distancing and individual protection at this time.  We hope to welcome you to our schools for a visit soon.  Get your application and complete it early to save time in the drive-thru drop-off on May 13.

Hamilton County Schools operates 42 Pre-K classrooms in 25 different locations, which includes schools and community-based sites. The program is funded through federal and state funds and is designed to give students the proper foundation for kindergarten.  All programs are designed to serve "at-risk" children. Eligible children must be four-years-old on or before August 15, 2020, and live in an elementary school zone in Hamilton County Schools.  More guidelines for eligibility are available on the district website.   

Kindergarten

If you missed kindergarten registration online, the process will be available again Monday, May 18 through Friday, May 22.  An onsite registration day at schools with kindergarten classes is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20.  More information about the onsite day and kindergarten registration will be provided later this week.

Other registrations and information updates

New student registration will begin online on Monday, June 1, 2020.

The process for parents and guardians of returning students to update student information for the fall is available now and will continue through Friday, May 22, 2020.



Online Kindergarten Registration Reopening

Online registration for kindergarten will reopen May 18-May 22 for families still needing to register their children for the 2020-2021 school year. Families can register their kindergarteners at www.hcde.org/KindergartenReg.






Kindergarten Online Registration

Next Monday, March 30, the district will launch online registration for Kindergarten. Kindergarten online registration will be March 30 - April 3.  If you are unable to upload the required documents, we will announce a date at a later time to bring the documents into the office.

Online registration for kindergarten in Hamilton County Schools for the 2020-2021 school year is open now, and runs through Friday.  Due to schools being closed at this time, the district has postponed the day planned during the registration period to provide on-site registration at schools.  Parents can access
 online kindergarten registration on the district’s website at www.hcde.org. Look under the “Parents & Students” tab on the home page for “Registration Information.”  On the Registration Information page, there are several links to kindergarten registration.  Video tutorials are available on the registration site to assist parents with the online process.

To attend kindergarten this fall, a child must be five years of age on or before August 15, 2020. Documents will be necessary to complete registration. Parents can upload the documents required during the online registration process.

Documents parents will need to complete registration
• A certified copy of the child’s birth certificate or officially acceptable evidence of the date of birth
• A Tennessee School Immunization Certificate available from the Hamilton County Health Department
• A photo ID of the parent or legal custodian of the child
• Proof of court-ordered custody of a child living with a divorced parent, custodian or guardian
 
Acceptable documents proving residency (two required)
• Lease, mortgage or deed
• Utility bill (gas, water, electric) dated in the last 30 to 60 days
• Insurance document (home, health, or life)
• A government document showing residency

When schools reopen, a date will be announced for parents and children to visit school sites.
