Hello My Name Is...
Vandana Taneja
I am an English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teacher at Apison Elementary. I have been teaching for the last 24 years. This is my tenth year with Hamilton County Schools and 6th year at Apison. I have a master's degree in English from India. I also have reading and ESOL endorsements for grades K-12 as well as a secondary certification to teach English to grades 7-12. In 2015, I completed another master's degree in Education with a focus on school leadership from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I am a lifelong learner and I love to travel. Fortunately, I have been a recipient of the Fund For Teachers Grant twice in 2013 and 2018. I have traveled to Costa Rica, Chile and Peru with these grants to study their language and culture. I am very passionate about making technology accessible to my students therefore I wrote the Leonore Annenberg Grant and got 100 iPads and 3 carts for all students at Clifton Hills Elementary School. I am married and I have a husband named Ajay. He does business development work at Olin Corporation and two grown up children: Nikhil and Divya. They both graduated from Duke University and are now working in New York.
