This week we are continuing our F&P reading benchmark assessments.

11/26-11/30

This week we are continuing to read nonfiction articles. We will be writing essays using evidence from both texts as the basis for our ideas.

Students received spelling words on Thursday, November 15 for this Thursday's test.



11/12-11/16

This week we are continuing to read nonfiction books and articles. We are highlighting key words then using those words to determine the main idea of a text.

Students received spelling words on Thursday of last week for this Friday's test.

In writing/language, we are still working on writing complete sentences and identifying the subject and predicate of a sentence.


11/5-11/9

This week we are reading tall tales and discussing literal and figurative language.

Students received spelling words on Thursday of last week for this Friday's test.

In writing, we are working on personal narratives, focusing on a single event.


10/22-26

This week we are reading tall tales and discussing the elements of the story that make stories "tall tales." We are also focusing on the thoughts, words, and actions of the characters.

10/16-19

This week we are reading tall tales and discussing the elements of the story that make stories "tall tales."

There are no spelling words this week, but students received next week's words on Thursday.



10/1-5

This week we are completing district benchmarks in reading, writing, and math. We are reading myths and legends to summarize the stories as well as identify examples of cause and effect. We are also looking at cause and effect situations in nonfiction. 

There are no spelling words this week.

9/24-28


We are reading fables to identify key details in the story. We are also exploring how these details can help us determine the moral or lesson in a fable.
